We have just taken delivery of a brand new Anton-Paar Monowave 450 microwave reactor with autosampler. Microwave reactors allow rapid synthesis of upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) in under 10 minutes per batch, with the autosampler allowing 20+ reactions to occur back to back. Additionally it features in-line temperature and colour tracking, with future upgrade potential for raman spectroscopy. This capability will enable rapid iterative synthesis optimisation and rapid scale-up to near gram-scale UCNP production - ideal for our group’s future biomedical applications!
