I explained how light activated nanomachines can assassinate cancer cells in under three minutes. There was laughs, there were balloons popped! It was great! The prize was £150 and I get to go to the UK final in London in May 2020!

The format is fairly similar to Three Minute Thesis, but the atmosphere was closer to Bright Club, and the competition is open to anyone within 12 years of their first degree. The event was at The Stand comedy club in Newcastle, which is an absolute dream venue.

The other competitors were top quality, and there was only 1 point (out of 40) between me and the runner up. I am genuinely surprised to have won!

Afterwards we were treated to an excellent science show by the wonderful Marty Jopson!
